Isola Eos

There are places in the world where the sea does not simply surround you, it defines you. Isola Eos is one of them. A private island rising from the waters off Massa Lubrense, suspended between Sorrento, Positano and the Gulf of Naples, it is one of the most extraordinary retreats on the entire Amalfi Coast. Arriving by private boat, the cliffs emerging from the deep blue, you understand immediately that what awaits you is not a holiday. It is a world unto itself. 

The island is rented exclusively to one group at a time, accommodating up to twelve guests across six double bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. The main villa unfolds across multiple levels, its interiors furnished in a refined Mediterranean style where whitewashed walls, warm woods and carefully chosen antiques create a sense of quiet, unhurried elegance. Living spaces open onto panoramic terraces, and every principal room frames the sea in a different light. Golden at dawn, silver at midday, burning amber as the sun descends behind the headlands. 

Outside, the grounds are as carefully tended as any formal estate: landscaped Mediterranean gardens, a private olive tree yard, a vegetable garden, a pizza oven and barbecue area for long evenings under the stars. The infinity pool, forty-six square metres set at the cliff's edge, seems to pour directly into the Tyrrhenian below. A private dock handles all arrivals, departures and day excursions, the island's own gateway to Positano, Amalfi and Capri, all within easy reach by boat. 

The island carries history lightly. Roman nymphaeums lie within its grounds, evidence of centuries of civilisation drawn to this same outcrop of rock and light. Eduardo De Filippo, one of Italy's most beloved playwrights, found inspiration here. And it is not difficult to understand why. Isola Eos is also a nesting site for the Corsican Gull, a protected species, and guests are invited to move through its landscape with the care it deserves. 

A dedicated on-site team of three manages all services across twelve hours daily. The professional chef curates a daily menu inspired by traditional and contemporary Mediterranean flavours, with all-inclusive breakfast, lunch and dinner, wines and digestives included throughout the stay. Housekeeping, laundry, pool service and gardening are all attended to with the same discreet precision, leaving nothing to consider but the quality of the light and the temperature of the water. Isola Eos does not ask to be discovered. It simply waits, as it always has, for those who know to look beyond the shoreline.
